What is a drawing register?
A drawing register is the master index of every drawing on a project or asset. It records each drawing’s number, title, and current revision in one controlled list, so anyone can see which sheets exist and which revision of each is current.
Where a single sheet answers one question about the design, the register answers the question above all of them: what drawings do we have, and which version of each is the one to build from.
How the register works for an asset owner.
A new row is added as each drawing is booked in, with its number, title, and discipline. As the drawing is reissued, a new row records the new revision and the old row is marked superseded, so the register carries the full history rather than the latest state alone.
For an asset owner, the register is the record that outlives the project. It is what a maintenance team, a contractor, or an auditor reads years later to find the current as-constructed sheet, trace what was issued and when, and trust that the drawing in their hand is the live one.
